Prepare an emergency kit
When you move into your new house it will be extremely busy and hectic. You might not have the time to find the right food or blankets or meds for your pet when there is a need. You do not want your pet to feel panicky in the first few days of unpacking.
Try to create a homely atmosphere
Your pet will feel the stress of moving into an entirely different atmosphere. Hence to best keep it easy for your pet try to re create an atmosphere as similar as possible to your previous home.
Introduce your pet to carriers or kennels
It is the best possible way to travel and move safely with your pets into a new house. If your pet is unaware of carriers or kennels, introduce it to your pet gradually. One step at a time. Make it a positive experience. No one likes to be in a restrictive environment hence introduce carriers in a slow and loving way.
Move in to your new house with your pet in your car
Instead of leaving your pet to travel by herself or himself it is best to travel with them. This journey is stressful for them. If your pet has never travelled with you in your car, introduce the idea gradually before the actual day.
Do not let your pet out in the new neighborhood on its own
As a kid you would often be lost if you moved into a new neighborhood. You would have to seek help from others to navigate your way back to your home. Your pet cannot communicate with anyone else. There are high chances of your pet getting lost.
Write your new details on your pet’s collar
It is best to update your new details on your pet’s tag. It is a new neighborhood, a new place and if your pet escapes out someone or the other can help your pet find his or her way back to you. To have your details and new address on your pet’s collar is an absolute necessity.
